A tragic road accident occurred on National Highway 55 near Mundasahi in Angul district, resulting in injuries to 14 Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP) jawans. The accident happened around 4:30 am on Saturday when a traveler carrying OSAP Second Battalion jawans from Jharsuguda to Bhubaneswar collided with a stationary truck.
The driver reportedly dozed off while driving, leading to the collision.
14 jawans were injured, with 7 in critical condition. Some jawans sustained severe injuries, including dismembered hands and trauma to the eyes and head.
Locals rescued the injured jawans and admitted them to Angul District Headquarters
5 critically injured jawans were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced medical care.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and seized the accident vehicle.
Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling met the injured jawans and instructed healthcare workers to provide them with proper medical care.
