A devastating road accident occurred today near Balishulia village under Shuliapada police station in Mayurbhanj district. A pickup van carrying over 30 people overturned, resulting in the death of a woman and injuring over 20 others.
According to eyewitnesses, the pickup van was returning from Shuliapada area, where the passengers had gone to collect saplings. The van was coming from Basta area of Balasore district when it suddenly lost control and overturned.
The injured were immediately rushed to the nearby Kostha Medical Center, where they received primary treatment. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were later shifted to the District Head Hospital in Baripada for further treatment.
Upon receiving information about the accident, Shuliapada police station reached the spot and seized the accident vehicle. An investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the accident.
Urban Development Minister Krishna Chandra Mohapatra and Baripada MLA Prakash Soren visited the hospital to inquire about the health of the injured. The local administration is providing all necessary assistance to the affected individuals.
The accident has sent shockwaves in the local community, and people are mourning the loss of life. The district administration has assured that all possible measures will be taken to provide relief to the families of the victims.
