Air India has announced the suspension of its direct flights from Delhi to Washington, D.C. starting September 1, 2025. This decision is due to operational constraints caused by the retrofitting of 26 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft and the continued closure of Pakistani airspace.

Impact on Passengers

- Booked Tickets: Passengers with bookings to or from Washington, D.C. beyond September 1, 2025, will be contacted by Air India.

- Options for Passengers:

    - Rebook on Alternative Flights: Travel to Washington, D.C. via one-stop connections through Air India's interline partners like Alaska Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines via JFK (New York), Newark, Chicago, or San Francisco.

    - Full Refund: Passengers can opt for a full refund if they do not wish to travel on the revised routing.

Other Details

- The retrofitting of Boeing 787-8 aircraft is aimed at enhancing customer experience and is expected to continue until at least the end of 2026.

- Air India will continue to operate non-stop flights between India and six destinations in North America, including Toronto and Vancouver in Canada.
