Paradip: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi participated in the Boita Bandana program in Paradip on Kartik Purnima, using the occasion to emphasize Odisha's ancient maritime tradition and future economic development.
The CM asserted that the festival symbolizes the glorious heritage and adventurous spirit of Odia seafarers, inspiring patience and courage.
Highlighting Paradip Port as the "Konark of the economy," he noted its growth from 71 million tonnes (2015) to 150 million tonnes (2025), now being the best major port in India.
Chief Minister Majhi announced ambitious plans to develop Paradip into a mega port, aiming for 300 million tonnes capacity by 2030 and up to 500 million tonnes by 2047.
He further revealed plans for a new large port at Bahuda (Ganjam) and a shipbuilding and repair center at the Mahanadi mouth, alongside a world-class cruise terminal in Puri, boosting the state's trade, tourism, and industry sectors.
