Severe Cyclonic Storm Montha has significantly weakened to a cyclonic storm after making landfall. The storm changed its trajectory, striking near Narsapur instead of the anticipated Kakinada, and is now moving northwest at 10 km/h. This shift has resulted in less impact on Odisha than initially estimated. Montha is forecast to weaken further into a deep depression within the next six hours.
The cyclone is now clear of Odisha, leading to the removal of the Red Warning. However, light to moderate rain persists across parts of the state.
A Yellow Warning remains only for the districts of Malkangiri and Koraput, as well as some districts in South and North Odisha.
Rainfall was noted in several areas yesterday, with Chandbali in Bhadrak district recording the highest at 51.7 mm. Other significant rainfall totals included 51 mm in Daringibadi and 42.4 mm in Jajpur.
