Two Top Maoist Leaders Surrender in Telangana

In a significant gain for the anti-Maoist campaign, two hardcore Maoist leaders, Pulluri Prasad Rao (60) alias Chandranna and Pind Prakash (43) alias Parvathi, have surrendered to the Telangana Police. They renounced violence and joined the mainstream in the presence of Police DG B. Shivadhar Reddy.


Prasad Rao, a member of the Central Maoist Committee and a Maoist for 45 years, and Pind Prakash, a member of the Telangana Committee and a key organizer in the Singareni mining area, chose to surrender.


Prasad Rao, a native of Peddapalli district, had previously been arrested in 2013 and released in 2015. His wife, Kurasangi Mothibai, was also a Maoist.


Both have been provided with incentive money by the government, with Prasad Rao receiving Rs 25 lakh and Pind Prakash receiving Rs 20 lakh.
