The political climate in Odisha has heated up as Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and LoP Naveen Patnaik clash over the Boundary Redetermination (Delimitation) Bill. Pradhan accused the BJD president of spreading "misleading and politically motivated" information to incite fear among the public.

Naveen Patnaik recently petitioned Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for a special assembly session, citing concerns that while Odisha’s Lok Sabha seats might rise to 29, its proportional representation would actually shrink from 3.9% to 3.4%. He fears this will dilute the state's political and economic influence.

The Counter-Argument:

Rights Protected: Pradhan asserted that the PM and Home Minister have guaranteed no state's rights will be diminished.

Increased Representation: He emphasized that Odisha's seat count will increase, not decrease.

Call for Unity: Pradhan urged support for the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, calling it a historic leap for women that should transcend partisan controversy.

As the 2026 notification of the Women’s Reservation Act brings delimitation into focus, the battle over Odisha's voice in Parliament intensifies.
