Healthcare services across Odisha face disruption as government doctors begin an indefinite daily one-hour protest starting today. The Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) announced that Outpatient Departments (OPDs) will remain shut from 10 AM to 11 AM statewide. Additionally, all National Health Mission (NHM) related work has been suspended.
The agitation proceeds despite "positive" talks with Health Minister Mukesh Mahalinga. While the Minister promised a committee to resolve grievances, OMSA remains dissatisfied, citing a lack of formal progress since a similar pledge in November.
Quick Facts:
Impact: One-hour daily halt in OPD services and total pause on NHM tasks.
Government Stance: The Minister has urged doctors to prioritize patient health while the committee studies their demands.
Doctor's Stand: Protests will continue until concrete action replaces verbal assurances.
