Odisha is set to welcome its first-ever woman Chief Secretary in the new year. The state government officially appointed Anu Garg, a seasoned 1991-batch IAS officer, to the top administrative post on Wednesday. She will succeed the outgoing Chief Secretary, Manoj Ahuja, following his retirement on December 31.


Currently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary for Water Resources and Planning & Coordination, Garg brings vast experience to the role. Her academic credentials include degrees from Delhi and Lucknow Universities, as well as Johns Hopkins University.

Assumption of Charge: Scheduled for January 1.
