In a landmark achievement for India’s space program, ISRO’s LVM3-M6 rocket—famously nicknamed the 'Bahubali'—successfully launched the American BlueBird Block-2 satellite into orbit today at 8:54 AM.
The 6,100 kg spacecraft, developed by AST SpaceMobile, marks the heaviest commercial payload ever launched from Indian soil. This mission, facilitated by ISRO’s commercial arm NSIL, is a pivotal step toward building the world’s first space-based cellular broadband network. The satellite features a massive phased-array antenna designed to provide high-speed 4G and 5G connectivity directly to standard smartphones globally.
Ahead of the historic flight, ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan followed long-standing tradition by offering prayers with a miniature rocket model at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple. This sixth operational flight of the LVM3 further solidifies India’s dominance in the global heavy-lift commercial launch market.
