In a major breakthrough for victims of the multi-crore chit fund scam, the Odisha government has announced that small depositors will receive their money back by January 31. State BJP President Manmohan Samal confirmed that the government is fulfilling a key election promise, having already identified 5 lakh additional depositors for the upcoming phase.
The Cooperation Minister highlighted that while the previous BJD regime saw the scam unfold and undergo CBI probes, it is the current administration that has successfully initiated the actual refund process.
"The money will be returned in a phased manner," Samal stated, assuring that large depositors will also be covered in subsequent rounds. This move brings long-awaited justice to lakhs of families who lost their savings to fraudulent schemes, marking a significant shift from investigation to financial restitution.
