A high-voltage, two-hour debate between lyricist Javed Akhtar and Islamic scholar Mufti Shamail Nadvi has sparked a social media firestorm over the existence of God. The discussion centered on a provocative question: Is God impermanent?

Akhtar, a self-proclaimed atheist, invoked the humanitarian crisis in Gaza to challenge divine mercy. "If God is omnipotent and omnipresent, He is in Gaza too," Akhtar argued. "How can He witness the deaths of innocent children and remain silent?" He sarcastically remarked that even political leaders appear more tangible than a silent deity, questioning why faith often demands the suspension of logic.

While Nadvi defended the concepts of morality and faith, Akhtar’s biting critique of religious violence and human suffering went viral. He concluded that if a creator permits such destruction, "it is better that He is not there." The clash has reignited a nationwide dialogue on the intersection of human suffering and religious belief.
