Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced a landmark shift in the state's education sector, declaring an end to contractual hiring in favor of regular teacher recruitments. The government plans to fill 45,000 regular teaching posts over the next three years to eliminate staff shortages.
Speaking at the Nilakant Nagar Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir, the CM also revealed a major structural reform: the merger of the Secondary and Higher Secondary boards into a single entity, modeled after CBSE.
Key initiatives announced include:
Infrastructure: 2,200 schools approved under the Godavarish Mishra Adarsh Primary School Scheme.
Student Support: Free textbooks for all students up to Class 10 starting next academic year.
Budget: A record ₹31,000 crore allocated for primary education.
Majhi, reflecting on his past as an Acharya, urged parents to prioritize children's unique talents over career competition, emphasizing that culture and quality education are the pillars of a "Prosperous Odisha."
