After a harrowing 45-day ordeal in war-torn Sudan, Adarsh, an Odia youth, safely returned to Bhubaneswar today. His arrival at the airport sparked emotional scenes as his family, who had lost all hope, welcomed him home.

Adarsh was working at a plastic company in Al Fasir when civil war broke out. After posting a desperate plea for help on social media, he was kidnapped by the RSF terrorist group. He endured "unspeakable torture" in forests and local jails, with captors even sending videos of the abuse to his terrified family.

The rescue was a coordinated success between the State and Central governments. Following the Chief Minister’s intervention and the efforts of the Union Ministry of External Affairs, the Intelligence Bureau facilitated his journey from Abu Dhabi to Hyderabad, and finally to Odisha. Adarsh expressed profound gratitude to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister for his "second life."
