State Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan has strongly condemned the recent gang-rape of a minor girl near Dhauli, calling it a "very sad incident."
The minister assured the public that the government has taken immediate and appropriate steps against all crimes, especially those against women, and affirmed that culprits are being arrested and facing legal procedures.
The incident occurred on December 11th when the minor, visiting Dhauli with a relative, was stopped by miscreants. After the relative refused a money demand, the two were dragged to a riverbed where the relative was severely attacked.
Police have arrested Bibhu Prasad Mishra and Kalindi Patra in connection with the crime, though the main accused remains at large. The State Women's Commission has also taken up the case for investigation. Minister Harichandan stressed that the government is taking the issue of fast track courts seriously to ensure speedy justice for the victim.
