The State Transport Authority (STA) Commissioner has issued strict new directives, forbidding the arbitrary cancellation of Driving Licenses (DL), Registration Certificates (RC), and Fitness Certificates (FCs) by RTOs, MVIs, and ARTOs.
This move follows numerous complaints about officials canceling documents without providing reasons or maintaining records.
Under the new order, any cancellation must be recorded with a clear justification and officially communicated to the vehicle owner. Details of all such cancellations must be updated on the vehicle portal.
Furthermore, if a vehicle is deemed unfit to run post-inspection or following an accident, the FC must be cancelled immediately. For completely destroyed or unusable vehicles, the RC/ARC will be cancelled after inspection, documenting all defects, and notifying the owner. All concerned officials are instructed to adhere strictly to these defined rules.
