The Rourkela Vigilance Department has arrested Anit Kumar Guru, a Section Officer at the Jharsuguda District Head Hospital, while accepting a bribe of ₹2,500. The officer was caught in a coordinated sting operation after a GNM teacher reported his corrupt demands.
The teacher had requested official permission to train nursing students at local primary and community health centers. Instead of processing the paperwork, Guru demanded a kickback.
This arrest follows a history of similar complaints, with multiple teachers alleging persistent harassment and extortion by the officer.
Following the apprehension, Vigilance teams conducted simultaneous raids at two of Guru's properties.
A formal case has been registered, marking a significant crackdown on administrative corruption within the district's healthcare system.
