A routine census operation turned into a violent nightmare in Anantpur village, under the Kamakhyanagar police station limits. A local resident, identified as Nikunj Satpati, and his two sons allegedly launched a vicious assault on a team of four census officers who were simply performing their duties.

The conflict began when Satpati’s family refused to cooperate with a female enumerator. When senior officers Raghunath Dixit, Madhusmita Behera, Swarnalata Sahu, and Sateen Biren Behera arrived to mediate, the situation escalated into a brutal ambush.

The father and sons reportedly pelted the officials with stones, used obscene language, and physically assaulted them before turning their rage toward the team's vehicle, which was left in ruins.

A formal complaint has been lodged at the Kamakhyanagar police station, with the victims demanding immediate justice and heightened protection for field workers.

Sub-District Collector Dinamani Naik and local police have arrived at the scene to oversee the investigation. Authorities have vowed strict action against the family to ensure the safety of the ongoing census mission.
