In a major revelation regarding electoral integrity, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the Assembly that 7,68,521 voters have been excluded from the state’s revised voter list. The announcement came in response to a query by Athagarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain.

The cleanup exposed significant irregularities, including 1,55,318 cases of duplicate voter IDs held by individuals across multiple locations—a clear indication of potential fraud. Between March 2025 and March 2026, the Election Officer removed:

2,03,396 deceased voters.

4,08,132 voters due to transfers.

2,646 for other administrative reasons.

Sundargarh topped the exclusion list with over 1.44 lakh removals, followed by Cuttack and Ganjam. During this same period, 5,67,034 new applications for inclusion were received.

The Chief Minister emphasized that this rigorous "cleaning" process is essential to ensure a transparent and fair democratic process, free from the influence of fraudulent or outdated entries.
