The state-level celebration of National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas), marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, was held today at the 6th OSAP Battalion premises in Cuttack.
Crime Branch DG Binaytosh Mishra presided as the chief guest. He paid tribute to Sardar Patel and received the salute at the joint parade, before administering the unity oath to all police officers, employees, and jawans.
DG Mishra highlighted Sardar Patel's "unparalleled" efforts in integrating 562 princely states post-independence. He urged citizens to work with a spirit of brotherhood and unity. He also stressed the police's crucial role in maintaining state law and order and suppressing crime.
The joint parade featured contingents from the OSAP 6th Battalion, I.R. Battalions, and the Police Brassband. The event was simultaneously celebrated across all police stations in 34 police districts.
