Nepal is witnessing intense unrest following the government's decision to ban 26 social media platforms, sparking widespread protests led by the country's Gen Z population. The situation escalated with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's resignation, accompanied by the resignation of ten ministers, including the Deputy Prime Minister.

At least 19 people were killed and over 250 injured as police fired live ammunition and tear gas against protesters demonstrating against the social media restrictions.

Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport has been closed indefinitely, leading to flight disruptions. Six Air India flights on the Delhi-Kathmandu route were canceled (AI2231/2232, AI2219/2220, AI217/218), prioritizing passenger and crew safety.

Flights from Delhi to Kathmandu were diverted or returned due to the turbulent atmosphere, affecting Air India and IndiGo operations.

The Nepal government lifted the social media ban following violent protests, with the UN calling for peaceful dialogue.

India's Stance: The Indian Ministry of External Affairs is closely monitoring the situation, advising Indian nationals in Nepal to exercise caution and follow local guidelines.

UN Concern: The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres urged peaceful resolution, emphasizing Nepal's vibrant democracy.

The situation remains tense in Kathmandu despite the lifting of social media restrictions, with protesters demanding accountability and reforms.
