Odisha’s political temperature has hit a boiling point ahead of Monday’s Rajya Sabha elections. With the battle for the fourth seat intensifying, the ruling BJP has moved its MLAs and ministers to a secure camp in Paradip via special buses.

The move serves a dual purpose: guarding against potential horse-trading and providing technical voting training to first-time legislators.

While three seats are settled, the fourth remains a high-stakes gamble. The BJP-backed independent candidate Dilip Rai faces off against Dr. Dattatreya Hota, the joint nominee of the BJD and Congress.

On paper, the opposition holds the numerical edge; however, internal rebellion within BJD and Congress ranks has sparked widespread fears of cross-voting.

To ensure zero errors, the BJP has appointed Deputy CM KV Singh Deo and Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan as election agents.

Following their Sunday training retreat, the MLAs will head directly to the Assembly on March 16 to cast their votes. With both camps on high alert, the final seat remains a unpredictable toss-up.
