Odisha is bracing for a sharp atmospheric shift. A low-pressure area over South Jharkhand and neighboring regions is currently triggering moderate rainfall and thunderstorms across Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak. Expect gusty winds reaching 30 kmph over the next 24 hours.
However, a drastic turn is coming. By March 20, an intense heatwave is set to grip the state. Temperatures are predicted to climb by 3°C, with the mercury hitting 40°C across most regions. Sundargarh and Sambalpur are expected to cross this threshold, facing the brunt of the "unbearable" heat.
In response, authorities have activated heatwave action plans across all 30 districts, including the Twin Cities and major urban hubs.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated and prepare for the upcoming spike.
