Odisha Vigilance Raids Keonjhar DFO's Properties, Uncovers 115 Plots and Multi-Storey Building

The Odisha Vigilance has launched a crackdown on Nityananda Nayak, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of the Kendu Leaf Division in Keonjhar, over allegations of possessing disproportionate assets. Simultaneous raids were conducted at seven locations in Angul, Keonjhar, and Nayagarh districts.


Key Findings:


- 115 Plots: A total of 115 plots were discovered, with 53 in Nayak's name, 42 in his wife's name, 16 in his two sons' names, and 4 in his daughter's name.

- Multi-Storey Building: A 9,000 square feet, four-storey building in Angul's Turanga area was seized, along with Rs 1.19 lakh in cash.

- Vehicles: Two four-wheelers, a Maruti Suzuki Dzire and a Skoda Volkswagen Virtus, along with four two-wheelers, were also seized.


Raids and Investigation:


- Locations: Raids were conducted at Nayak's four-storey building in Angul, his ancestral house in Angul Bantala, his father-in-law's house in Jughanpur, Keonjhar Kenduliph office, Keonjhar government residence, his son's house in Nayagarh Komanda, and his son's office in Nayagarh District New Komanda.

- Investigation Team: A team of 3 DSPs, 10 inspectors, and other support staff was involved in the operation, acting on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar.

- Ongoing Investigation: The Vigilance Technical Wing is conducting measurements and valuation of the seized properties, while bank deposits, other deposits, and investments are being ascertained.
