The Odisha Vigilance department has unearthed a substantial amount of unaccounted wealth during a raid on the official residence of Keonjhar Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Nityanand Nayak. The raid, conducted on Monday, resulted in the seizure of approximately ₹8.5 lakh in cash, along with a pistol and multiple bank passbooks.


Details of the Raid:


- Locations: The vigilance team raided seven locations associated with DFO Nayak, including his official residence and office in Keonjhar, a four-storey building in Angul, his ancestral house in Madan Mohanpatna village of Bantala, his in-laws' house in Jughanpur, his son's house in Komond, Nayagarh, and his son's office.

- Team: A team of three DSPs, 10 inspectors, and two other employees were involved in the raid, acting on allegations of disproportionate assets.

- Seized Items: Cash, a pistol, and several bank passbooks were seized during the raid, indicating potential evidence of unaccounted wealth.


Investigation and Background:


- Allegations: The raid was conducted based on allegations of accumulating undeclared assets, sparking an investigation into DFO Nayak's wealth and assets.

- Previous Raids: Similar raids were conducted by the vigilance department in other cases, such as the recent raid on Keonjhar Jail Superintendent Satya Prakash Swain's residence, where jewelry, passports, and watches were seized.
