General darshan at the Shri Jagannath Temple in Puri will remain restricted today from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM to facilitate the secret Khasapada ritual of Mahaprabhu.
Observed on Shravan Shukla Panchami, this sacred service is performed two to three times a year—following the Gundicha Yatra and Dola Purnima—to protect and preserve the holy relics and physical form of the Chaturdhamurti.
During the ritual, deities are covered with purified white cloths on the Ratnasinhasan, accompanied by traditional materials like kaintha atha.
After completion of the ritual behind closed doors, deities undergo a grand ritualistic bath and then starts regular puja.
