Following a red alert issued for four districts due to relentless rainfall and worsening flood conditions, local administrations have enforced urgent precautionary measures.
In Bhadrak, District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay cancelled all official leaves, directing employees to immediately rejoin their headquarters. Due to severe waterlogging, 271 schools across Dhamnagar, Bhandaripokhari, Tihidi, Chandbali, and Basudevpur blocks will remain closed.
Similarly, Mayurbhanj District Magistrate Hemkant Say ordered a one-day holiday for all educational institutions—ranging from Anganwadi centers to Class XII, alongside colleges—due to a severe low-pressure warning issued by the Meteorological Department. While students stay home, teachers are instructed to report to school to assist with official disaster management protocols.
