Normalcy returns to Jagatsinghpur today as domestic buses resume operations on all routes following a five-day strike. The standoff ended after a high-level mobile conference between the Transport Commissioner, District Magistrate, and bus association leaders on Sunday evening.
The strike, led by the Jagatsinghpur Domestic Bus Owners’ Association along with Cuttack and Paradip units, was sparked by opposition to Tier-2 MBS (Mo Bus Service) expansion. Yielding to the associations' formal complaints, the Transport Commissioner has promised to halt MBS operations on these routes.
While private buses have begun plying since Monday morning, a decisive meeting is scheduled at the State Transport Authority (STA) today. Officials and association secretaries will further discuss the long-term integration and regulation of MBS to prevent future disruptions.
