The Odisha government has officially replaced the State Planning Board with the State Institute for Transformative Initiatives (SITI-Odisha). Modeled after the Central Government’s NITI Aayog, this restructured body aims to spearhead the state’s ambitious vision for Prosperous Odisha@2036 and Developed India@2047.
Key Governance Structure:
Chairman: The Chief Minister.
Vice Chairman: Appointed by the CM with Cabinet rank.
Leadership: A CEO (Senior IAS officer) and a Member Secretary (State Development Commissioner).
The Team: Four full-time members (Minister of State status), nine departmental officials, and two expert invitees.
To ensure accountability, the State Monitoring and Rating Office will operate under SITI-Odisha as a nodal institution. This shift signals a transition from traditional planning to a dynamic, expert-driven framework designed to accelerate socio-economic transformation across the state. By aligning with national policy frameworks, SITI-Odisha is positioned to be the primary engine for Odisha's long-term developmental roadmap.
