A wave of grief and anger has hit the Saliasahi settlement following the tragic death of a local youth, Sinu Gagarai, who fell into an open roadside drain.
The incident occurred when Gagarai slipped into a "Mukula" drain currently under construction by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) for a new road project. He sustained critical head injuries during the fall and was rushed to the Capital Hospital, where doctors tragically declared him dead on arrival.
The local community has expressed outrage over the safety hazards posed by the unfinished construction site. While the BMC has yet to issue an official response regarding the incident, the victim's family is mourning the sudden loss and has formally demanded government compensation and immediate assistance.
This fatal accident has renewed calls for stricter safety protocols at civic infrastructure sites across the capital to prevent further loss of life.
