The Chauliyaganj Police Station has arrested thirty individuals following a raid on a hotel in Shikharpur late last night. The operation was initiated after police received information regarding the presence of several "suspicious persons" at the establishment.
The police action was reportedly prompted by local residents, who grew suspicious after noticing a number of foreign-registered vehicles parked outside the hotel. Locals subsequently alerted the Thana (Police Station) about the unusual activity.
Upon receiving the tip-off, a team from the Chauliyaganj police station quickly mobilised and raided the hotel premises. As the police vehicle arrived, one of the individuals reportedly attempted to flee the scene but was swiftly apprehended by the officers. Police then entered the hotel and launched an investigation, subsequently taking thirty suspects into custody.
All individuals arrested are reportedly from West Bengal.
While the police have yet to officially disclose the exact nature of the crime, local talk suggests the suspects may be involved in a cryptocurrency fraud scheme.
