Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the probe into the police sub-inspector recruitment exam corruption case. The case, which had allegations of widespread irregularities and corruption, was initially being investigated by the Crime Branch CID.
The investigation so far has suggested the involvement of an inter-state organized criminal gang, with links to other states like Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.
The state government aims to bring all culprits to book and ensure exemplary punishment through the CBI probe.
A permanent commission for selection of personnel in police and other uniformed services is also being considered.
The decision to hand over the investigation to the CBI is seen as a step towards transparency and accountability in the recruitment process.
