In a major boost to urban safety, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has greenlit a state-of-the-art skywalk project to safeguard pedestrians navigating the city's busiest traffic corridors. The proposed structure will span from Palasuni to Rasulgarh, addressing long-standing safety concerns on the National Highway.
Budget: ₹20 Crore investment by NHAI.
Length: A massive 500-meter elevated walkway.
Purpose: To provide a dedicated, accident-free passage for pedestrians crossing the high-speed NH stretch.
The NHAI regional office confirmed that the skywalk is designed to decongest ground-level foot traffic while ensuring a seamless flow for heavy vehicles. This infrastructure upgrade is expected to significantly reduce pedestrian fatalities in the capital. Engineering surveys are reportedly complete, and construction is slated to begin shortly to transform this high-risk zone into a model of safe urban mobility.
