Bhubaneswar's historic Kalinga Studio is making a grand comeback in a modern avatar, set to be formally inaugurated tomorrow by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Renovated at a cost of approximately ₹164 crore, the revamped facility aims to revolutionize Odisha's film industry and emerge as a premier tourism hub.
The modernized studio features state-of-the-art shooting sets—including a Snow World, haunted house, Amazon forest, airport, railway station, and rural backdrop—alongside a vibrant amusement park designed for filmmakers and families alike.
To ensure self-reliance, the Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC) has structured a sustainable revenue model through ticketing fees for tourists and shooting charges for production houses. Maintenance for the next two years has been handed over to Yatri Corporate Services Private Limited, backed by an OFDC operational budget of ₹6.35 crore.
Opening to the general public tomorrow, the modernized Kalinga Studio marks a transformative milestone on the capital city's tourism and cultural map.
