The sacred three-day Dev Deepa Bali Nithi of Mahaprabhu, which began on Wednesday, continued today on its second day, coinciding with Mahodadhi Amavasya.

This ritual is a significant observance of Shraddha (ancestral rites) by Mahaprabhu in memory of his parents across the four Yugas. Yesterday, Deepa Dan and Shraddha were offered in the name of Aditi and Kashyapa.

Today, the ceremony focuses on honoring Dasharatha and Kaushalya of the Tretaya Yuga. The Deities are adorned in the special Shraddha Besha, featuring white Nagpuri shaadi chadars, with each Thakur’s cloth having distinct colored edges.

In celebration of Dev Deepa, various organizations in Puri will illuminate the Badadand from Singhdwar to Srigundicha Temple this evening by lighting one lakh lamps, creating a deeply devotional atmosphere.
