The spiritual air in Puri is thick with devotion as the sacred Phagu Dashami rituals commenced at the Jagannath Temple today, marking the start of the week-long Dola Utsav.

Following the Madhyanha Dhupa (midday incense), the representative idols—Dola Govinda, Bhu Devi, and Sri Devi—embarked on a grand procession to the Sri Jagannath Ballav Math to play with Abir and Phagu.

A highlight of this spring festival is the Lord’s enchanting Chacheri Besha. For the next four days (Dashami to Trayodashi), the Holy Trinity will be adorned in vibrant red silk (Boirani Madha) and exquisite ornaments.

Devotees believe that witnessing the Lord in this joyful attire during the Dola Yatra bestows immense merit. Special Chacheri Bhog will also be offered daily, celebrating the eternal bond between the Divine and the seasons.

Key Highlights:

Duration: One week starting today.

Special Attire: Red silk "Chacheri Besha" every afternoon.

Procession: Idols travel to Jagannath Ballav Math.
