A devastating storm tore through the capital on Tuesday, claiming two lives and leaving a trail of destruction. The tragedy unfolded near Aiginia Durgamandap when a massive hoarding collapsed onto a roadside cabin, trapping those beneath.

Surendra Goud, a college student from Ganjam residing in Dumduma, died instantly. Police and rescue teams used rod cutters to extricate two others from the wreckage; however, one victim succumbed to injuries during treatment at Capital Hospital, bringing the death toll to two. A third person remains under medical care.

The gale-force winds caused widespread chaos, uprooting trees and electric poles while damaging houses across the city. Severe waterlogging and fallen debris paralyzed traffic on major routes. As the city limps back to normalcy, the incident has sparked fresh concerns regarding the safety and structural integrity of large outdoor advertisements during extreme weather.
