The first phase of the Assembly’s budget session concluded in a total stalemate today, marking the sixth consecutive day of disruptions. Opposition members from the BJD and Congress stormed the well of the House, shouting slogans over farmer distress, paddy procurement irregularities, and market mismanagement.

The persistent ruckus forced Speaker Surma Padhi to adjourn proceedings until 11:30 PM, effectively washing out the Question Hour yet again. Since Governor Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati’s opening address on February 17, the House has remained paralyzed, with the state budget presented amidst the din.

Public frustration is mounting as crores in taxpayer revenue are spent to maintain the Assembly, yet critical debates remain sidelined by political posturing. With the recess now in effect, the legislative deadlock leaves citizens in the dark regarding vital policy decisions and the actual "interests of the people."
