The Regional Meteorological Centre on Sunday issued a "Yellow Warning" for several districts as a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal threatens to trigger thunderstorms and gusty winds across Odisha on February 23rd and 24th.

The system, currently over the southwest Bay, is expected to move west-northwestwards, bringing a sudden shift in weather.

On Monday, isolated thunderstorms with wind speeds of 30–40 kmph are predicted for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak. The activity is expected to persist on Tuesday, specifically targeting Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, and Cuttack.

While the rain may offer temporary respite from rising temperatures, officials have advised residents to stay alert for lightning. Following this two-day spell, dry weather is expected to return, with a gradual rise in mercury across the state.
