Prioritizing "Universal Health Coverage," the Odisha government has allocated ₹23,182 crore for the Health and Family Welfare Department in the 2026-27 budget. This historic outlay represents over 7.5% of the total state budget, focusing on affordable and quality medical services.
Infrastructure Expansion:
To manage rising patient loads, the government will add 5,000 IPD beds across medical colleges and district hospitals, including 1,800 at SCB Medical College. Additionally, 1,000 ICU and 500 High Dependency Unit (HDU) beds will be established.
Key Financial Allocations:
Gopabandhu Arogya Yojana: ₹4,279 crore
CM’s Health Service Mission: ₹5,008 crore
National Health Mission: ₹1,958 crore
AYUSH Expansion: ₹140 crore for five new Ayurvedic and Homeopathic colleges in tribal districts.
Specialized Units: ₹200 crore for burn units in Puri, Burla, and Koraput.
Further investments include ₹1,000 crore for SCB development and ₹176 crore to set up 1,807 new sub-centers, ensuring healthcare reaches the last mile.
