Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari informed the State Assembly today that Odisha now comprises 51,796 revenue villages. Responding to a query by MLA Ashwani Kumar Patra, the Minister detailed the ongoing transition of "padagrams" (hamlets) into official revenue units.
Out of 5,576 identified padagrams, 1,951 have successfully been declared revenue villages by the Director of Land Records and Survey, Cuttack. However, the process faces hurdles as the government tightens its eligibility criteria.
Key Statistics:
Total Revenue Villages: 51,796
Rejected Proposals: 2,502 (Failed to meet state criteria)
Pending Status: 1,123 proposals remain with District Collectors for further review.
Minister Pujari clarified that once the remaining proposals are processed and verified against administrative guidelines, appropriate actions will be taken to finalize their status. This move aims to streamline rural governance and disaster management mapping across the state.
