In a major boost to Odisha's presence in the national capital, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for the new Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi’s Chanakyapuri this Thursday. The 7-storey landmark, estimated at ₹93.27 crore, replaces the old structure demolished last year.
Blending modern luxury with Odia tradition, the building will showcase stone carvings and Sambalpuri Ikat motifs. Spanning 4,761 square meters, it will feature:
Capacity: 45 rooms and suites across seven floors.
Facilities: A state-of-the-art conference hall and art exhibition space.
Parking: 3 basements for 40 vehicles.
Union Minister Jual Oram and State Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan joined the ceremony, emphasizing that the Bhawan will serve as a cultural hub for the Odia diaspora.
