In a landmark decision welcomed by the state's teaching community, the Odisha Cabinet has approved a new cadre rule to replace flawed regulations in place for 33 years.
The Odisha Hindi Teachers' Association praised the initiative, with a delegation led by President Dr. Suman—accompanied by Lalit Mohan Sahu, Deepak Kumar Guru, Ipsita Raul, Ram Prusti, and Parsuram Jena—meeting the Chief Minister and the School and Mass Education Minister to express gratitude.
Under the new rules, all Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) will receive equal status. This resolves a long-standing controversy by ensuring teachers are eligible for seniority and promotion opportunities based on their initial TGT appointments.
