Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired the 48th State Cabinet meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, approving 16 significant proposals across 11 departments focused on education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, and skill development.
Highlighting the decisions, Chief Secretary Anu Garg announced a ₹2,450-crore "Skill Development Scheme" to empower 4.2 lakh youths through employment-oriented short-term training (1.17 lakh) and digital skill programs (3 lakh). Aligned with NEP 2020, the state will also integrate skill development with higher education by establishing 'Skill Hubs' in government institutions.
In a massive boost to the agricultural and fisheries sector, the Cabinet restructured the Fisheries Service Cadre to raise fish production to 51 lakh metric tonnes by 2047, up from the current 12.7 lakh. Posts in the Fisheries and Animal Resources Department expanded from 445 to 774, including upgrades for Senior Fishery Technical Assistants to Level-9 pay scales. Furthermore, a new ₹500-crore scheme was cleared to resolve persistent drainage issues across the state.
These far-reaching reforms are designed to drive comprehensive economic growth, generate widespread employment, and uplift marginalized sections of society.
