India successfully test-fired its indigenously developed Agni-III intermediate-range ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) on Friday. The exercise, conducted by the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), was a routine user trial designed to validate the system's operational and technical reliability.
Defense Ministry officials confirmed the test was a "complete success," with the missile accurately hitting its pre-designated target in the Bay of Bengal. Developed by DRDO, the 17-meter-long, two-stage solid-fuelled missile boasts a strike range of 3,000 to 3,500 km.
Capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads weighing up to 1.5 tonnes, Agni-III is a cornerstone of India’s credible minimum deterrence strategy. Since its induction in 2011, the missile has provided the SFC with a robust second-strike capability, ensuring regional stability through indigenous technological excellence.
