The heart of Mayurbhanj is beating to the rhythm of the Dhol and Mahuri as the five-day Chaitra Parva 2026 kicks off today. This vibrant celebration of heritage transforms Baripada into a canvas of tradition, headlined by the world-renowned Chhau dance and the bustling Pallishri Mela.
The festivities began with a grand carnival from Maa Ambika Temple, showcasing a kaleidoscope of tribal dances. Over the next five days, the intense rivalry and artistry of the Uttar Sahi and Dakshin Sahi troupes will take center stage at Chhau Podia.
Simultaneously, the Pallishri Mela—featuring 150 stalls from across 20 districts and 8 states—offers a treasure trove of rural handicrafts and diverse flavors at the food courts.
Organized by the district administration and ORMAS, Chaitra Parva is more than a festival; it is a grand tribute to the enduring spirit and craftsmanship of Odisha.
