In a significant New Year gift, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has announced a 5% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees. This increase raises the DA from 55% to 60%, based on the Sixth Pay Commission scale.
The Finance Department confirmed that the hike will be implemented retrospectively from July 1. This marks the third DA increase this year, following a 3% hike during Diwali and an earlier adjustment in April, totaling a 10% rise in 2024.
The move has been welcomed by thousands of employees as they transition into the new year. Furthermore, with the Central Government preparing for the Eighth Pay Commission in 2026, speculation is rife that the state government may follow suit in the near future. This proactive step by the Majhi administration is seen as a major boost to employee morale.
