Spiritual fervor gripped the Sun Temple city today as thousands gathered to celebrate the holy Samba Dashami. Marking the occasion, the magnificent Hiranya Rath—a 24-foot chariot featuring six wheels and seven symbolic horses—commenced its journey from Ananta Abhut Matha to the sacred Chandrabhaga Teerth.
In a special gesture, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) waived entry fees to the Konark Sun Temple, leading to a massive surge of devotees and tourists seeking the Sun God’s blessings for family well-being.
The Ritual Calendar:
The Transit: The Solar Brahma will reside at Chandrabhaga for 27 days, representing the 27 constellations.
The Return: Following intensive daily pujas, the chariot will return to the Matha after the Magha Saptami holy dip.
Mothers across Odisha observed fasts and offered Pitha to the rising sun, upholding the ancient tradition of seeking divine healing and prosperity.
