In a vibrant display of faith, Odisha today celebrates Samba Dashami, a unique festival dedicated to the Sun God, Surya Narayan. Rooted in the Puranic legend of Krishna’s son, Samba, who was cured of leprosy through rigorous penance at Chandrabhaga, the day remains a powerful symbol of healing and vitality.

The air at Chandrabhaga Teerth was thick with devotion as the idol of Surya Narayan began its ceremonial chariot journey to the Chotababa Matha. Following age-old traditions, the Matha Mahant guarded the chariot after it was offered Kakara, Bara, and Poda Pitha.

Across the state, mothers woke before dawn to perform "Surya Puja," praying for the longevity and health of their children. The deity will remain at the shore until the upcoming Magha Saptami, marking a season of spiritual rejuvenation.
