In preparation for the impending cyclone, Odisha's Health and Family Welfare Department has put extensive measures in place to guarantee uninterrupted medical services. Health Secretary and Commissioner Ashwathy S. chaired an emergency review meeting at Kharavela Bhawan, connecting with senior officials and district CDMOs via video conferencing.

To combat potential crises, strict directives have been issued to maintain ample stockpiles of essential medicines, halogen tablets, and bleaching powder in vulnerable districts. Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) and Mobile Health Units (MHUs) are being mobilized to reach remote, affected pockets, while rigorous surveillance is underway to prevent waterborne and vector-borne outbreaks like cholera, dengue, and malaria.

Key Preparedness Highlights:

Maternal & Elderly Care: Special focus is directed toward safeguarding pregnant women, newborns, and senior citizens sheltered in relief camps, alongside ensuring safe drinking water and proper sanitation.

Leave Cancelled: All medical leaves for health officials and workers have been revoked, requiring them to remain on high alert until normalcy is restored.

Control Rooms: Dedicated round-the-clock control rooms are now fully operational at both state and district levels to coordinate swift emergency responses.
